I know that many of our readers are employees of 352 Media, our friends, and our families. So along those lines, I wanted to pass along a thank you from the Florida Diabetes Camp for all of our hard “work” at the ACEL Charity Kickball Tournament earlier this year.
Our fourth place showing, while disappointing to us, wasn’t a disappointment to the kids our donation benefited. Here’s an excerpt from a letter we received from Rosalie Bandyopadhyay, the director of the camp’s scholarship and financial aid program:
“We have received the donation and have added it to the Morgan Whaley Memorial Scholarship Fund to help a child this summer. The camp program provides youngsters with diabetes educational programs and psychological and emotional support from health professionals, caring volunteers and other youngsters with diabetes. The goal of Florida’s Diabetes Camp is to provide a fun camping experience for children with insulin dependent diabetes in a medically supervised environment. Our policy is that all children can attend the camp regardless of the family’s ability to pay any fees. This donation will help maintain that ‘open door’ policy.”
Sounds like an amazing program, and I’m glad we could help. Knowing we helped a great program makes drinking beer and playing kickball feel even more rewarding!
And as a tribute, here is an encore of our kickball recap video:
