Apple iPhone Marketing: Good for Sales, Bad for Their Legal Department

So watch this first, as if you haven’t seen it before.

Great.  Now that is a cool feature that I’m sure has sold an iPhone or two.  Only problem is Apple doesn’t own the patent on that feature.  A company filed suit this week against Apple and AT&T over the infringement, and it looks like it might have some merit.  They’ve already won similar cases over others for stepping on this very patent.  More on that here…

So while some might be angry or criticize Apple for this gaff, I instead salute their marketing team.  I mean, it takes real cohones to advertise something that isn’t yours.  Bravo.

Now I’m admittedly a Microsoft guy, and while this post is all in good fun, it is nice to see Apple following so many of the things they’ve criticized the monolith Microsoft for in the past.  Fun.
