Remember the episode of Friends where Phoebe and Joey argue whether there is such a thing as a self-less good deed? Joey’s stance: No because it’s always going to make you feel good about doing it. So, Phoebe spends the next 26 minutes trying to prove him wrong, even going as far as letting a bee sting her so he would look “tough in front of his bee friends” — her words, not mine. Moving on from the fact that I apparently watch too much television, we unveiled 352’s newest venture today at the Gainesville AdFed’s Marketing & Advertising 101 for Nonprofits and Small Businesses workshop today at the Thomas Center here in our hometown, Gainesville. It’s called DesignYour.Org — get it? Design your .org? Moving on… — and it’s a free service that allows charities and nonprofit organizations to have a professionally designed website with a fully functional content management system. The best part: It’s free! The catch: There is none. After you apply and get approved (we do have to prove you’re a legit nonprofit), you choose from one of our 10 design templates, and then can add text and graphics to customize it for your organization. The content is done through a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor, so you don’t need any programming or HTML knowledge to update and maintain what’s on your site. Tired of your template: You can switch it out whenever you like. I know what you’re thinking: Why create a free website service for nonprofits? The truth is, we’d love to be able to create websites for every NPO, but time-constraints and workload don’t always make that possible. This allows us to create an unlimited number of sites for worthy nonprofit organizations that need more than what a cookie-cutter template would give them. And yeah, it does make us feel all warm and tingly on the inside, so I guess I’m going to have to side with Joey on this one. Check it out, even if it’s just to see more of Geoff’s (our CEO) uncanningly amazing video host skills. How does he do it?
