The Humana Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Humana Inc., one of the nation’s leading health-benefits companies, has selected 352 Media Group to enhance the Wellness Information Zone (WZ) Web site.
The free Web site is a key component of the Wellness Information Zone Project, developed by The Humana Foundation in partnership with Libraries For the Future (LFF). Consumers will find basic and up-to-date health information in everyday language at Wellness Zone.
‘There is so much health information available today and some of it is misleading,’ said Virginia Judd, executive director of The Humana Foundation. ‘Wellzone.org connects anyone with Internet access directly to reliable health information and now, 352 Media Group is enhancing navigational features to make the site even easier to use.’
LFF Executive Director Bruce Astrein added, ‘Libraries are a wonderful resource for health information, and this project adds a new dimension with designated WZ centers in libraries and specialized librarian training.’
The project pilot launched in September 2007 in Atlanta. Since then, The Humana Foundation and LFF have increased promotion to empower people with health information and continue to monitor the pilot’s success.
Judd added, ‘Our ‘high tech, high touch’ approach to health literacy also includes Humana employee volunteers as trained health information guides’ at WZ centers located in nonprofit organizations.
‘We’re thrilled for the opportunity Humana has given us to work on a site that will have such a positive impact on people’s lives,’ said Peter VanRysdam, 352 Media’s vice president of marketing. ‘Our goal is to develop a site that exceeds the Foundation’s expectations.
